A Bit About Graphic Designing

As we all know one of the most paying career now days is graphic designing, graphic designing include many things such as logo design, stationary design, merchandise design, visiting card design, Branding, packaging, social medial post, flyer, hording, motion graphics etc.

How to get started with graphic design?

The first thing that let say we are designing a logo so there is a mind mapping thing which we have to take care of, the main thing we need to remember as we designing logo is we have to keep this as minimilastic as possible so that people can easily remember that and also logo is going to use everywhere so keeping too much detail is not good.

Based on that you have to start mind mapping

Mind mapping :- In the mind mapping section we have to define everything like first our project is in which field 2d or 3d, and then be specific that from which genre your project is like finance, shop, music etc., and based on that start doing the rough sketches for the logo, once you finalize one sketch then open illustrator and make logo of that.

Few things which you should take care when you are deciding the color scheme of your logo that every color has their different meaning like blue represent trust like that, so make sure according to subject matter go for the color scheme don't pick something random, also the font what you are going to use related to subject matter only.

As your logo and color scheme is final you can work with visiting card, size of visiting card is 2.1x3.6in in the visiting card the font size of your name should be 12 and rest details like social media handle is 7.

As your visiting card is final you can start work for merchandise and stationary items such as, t- shirt, letter head, mug, bag, packaging, envelope etc.

There are also few thing which you can take care of while designing logo, such as

Golden ratio :- It is the ratio is 1: 1.6, you have to create circle 1x1 in, 2x2 in, 3x3, in, 5x5, in, 8x8 in...

Grid System:- As we design the logo to make it feel better we can also use grid, grid can be of 2 types

1. Rectangular grid

2. Isometric grid

As we done with all the merchandise and stationary then we have to start working on marketing items, such as flyer, poster, hoardings, social media post

Flyer:- This contain too much details as the viewer going to spend more time on this. Size is A4.

Banner :- This contain less info as it is stick on wall so if the title is interesting then viewer going to go for complete reading, Size is 3x6 in.

Hoarding:- This we have to design according to the point of purchase as it is in traffic maximum a visitor going to spend 30 sec on that. Size is 20x20 in.

Social media post :- For social media we have to make tittle something like that, that makes the user to view complete post, not scroll it down. Size is square 1x1in,2x2 in etc.

There is also one rule to set the color of your complete design which is called 60 30 10 rule, in this we make 60% with one color which is maximum part of your design, it can be the background, 30 percent with another color which can be the body copy, and rest 10% with different color you can also create contrast in this rule by using contrasting color.

Contrasting color:- Color which are opposite to each other in color wheel.

As we done with all the things for presentation we can use mockups to give it a better look and feel, there are many sites which are providing mockup like Freepik , Graphic Burger etc.
